Two Toronto teenagers face charges after a series of grocery store robberies in the city’s east side.

Toronto police officers responded to robberies in the Beaches, Cliffcrest and Blake-Jones neighborhoods in the month ended May 9 after grocery stores were attacked.

In each incident, two boys allegedly entered stores wearing masks and one of them pulled out a gun. In two incidents, the other boy was armed with a knife. According to police, the boys each time demanded and obtained cash before fleeing.

In one of the incidents, an employee was assaulted and taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Last Thursday, officers issued a search warrant and arrested one of the boys. The other teenager turned himself in to the police.

Charges are being brought against a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old, including three counts of robbery with a firearm.
Neither of them can be named under the Juvenile Criminal Justice Act.
