Tottenham manager news: Xabi Alonso confirms Bayer Leverkusen at the latest

The Spaniard has impressed in his first full-time coaching role and could lead the German side to the Europa League final should Leverkusen come from a one-goal deficit against Roma on Thursday night.
Tottenham have a tentative interest in the former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder as Daniel Levy looks for a permanent replacement for Antonio Conte.
While Spurs have concerns about Alonso’s lack of experience, the fact that former Leverkusen sporting director Tim Steidten is a candidate for the vacant north London position has only added to speculation.
The 44-year-old is top of Spurs’ list of options alongside Brentford’s Lee Dykes and Roma’s Tiago Pinto.
However, Alonso has stressed that he is happy at the BayArena and has confirmed that he will remain in charge next season.
“I’m happy with the team and the club here,” Alonso told BILD.
“I’m not worried about my future.”
When asked if he would still hold office next season, the world champion replied: “That’s right.”
Spurs are ready to step up their search for a new manager after completing due diligence and are seeking talks with candidates.
