Tottenham rely on young Ashley Phillips as Davinson Sanchez makes Galatasaray move

Sanchez joined the reigning Turkish champions on Monday evening on a permanent deal worth just under £12.8 million. Spurs teammate Tanguy Ndombele also traveled to Istanbul on a season-long loan deal, which includes an option to buy next summer, also worth £12.8m.
Both signed in time to be included in Galatasaray’s squad for the Champions League group stage.
Sanchez began the season as Spurs’ third centre-back under Postecoglou, coming on as a substitute in the matchday one draw at Brentford, before starting and missing a penalty in their Carabao Cup second round defeat to Fulham.
Reinforcement: 18-year-old Ashley Phillips will act as a central defender for Tottenham
/ Evening StandardSince Eric Dier was not yet in the squad for a single matchday under the Australian, summer newcomer Phillips sat on the bench against Burnley at the weekend and could now act as a central defender alongside Ben Davies until at least January.
Phillips, 18, joined Spurs in July for £3m from Blackburn, where he played eight times in the Championship last season, and trained full-time with the first team, although he also appeared in the under-21 team.
The England Under-19 international is highly rated but could now be deployed at right-centre back if Cristian Romero is injured unless Postecoglou brings Dier back from the cold.
