Tottenham sack Rehanne Skinner after nine straight WSL defeats

Tottenham have sacked head coach Rehanne Skinner after Sunday’s loss to Liverpool meant nine straight defeats in the women’s Super League.
Spurs squandered an early lead and lost 2-1 at Prenton Park when Rosella Ayane’s goal was canceled out by Emma Koivisto’s deflected strike before Missy Bo Kearns winner Skinner admitted her side faced a “struggle” to turn their season around .
That fight will now be in the hands of others after the club acted to end Skinner’s nearly two and a half year tenure.
Managing director Andy Rogers said: “Since joining us in 2020, Rehanne has played an integral role in our development in women’s football, both on and off the pitch.
“She performed her duties with the utmost professionalism and attention to detail and we would like to thank her for everything she has done for us during her tenure.”
Former England assistant manager Skinner took over the job in November 2020 and guided Tottenham to fifth place in the WSL, their highest-ever finish, and the semi-finals of the Continental League Cup last season.

However, since an 8-0 defeat by Brighton at the end of October, the wheels have fallen off.
Tottenham have fallen down the table and are now just two points and two places above the relegation zone.
Assistant coach Vicky Jepson will take charge of Wednesday’s home game against relegation rivals Leicester.
