Tottenham star Richarlison brutally trolled as he silenced fans after the goal… but the celebration backfires

TOTTENHAM’S Richarlison was brutally trolled after silencing fans after a goal – only for his punch to be ruled out.

The controversial Brazilian thought he broke the impasse for Spurs just minutes after their clash with Nottingham Forest today.

He received a beautiful ball played over the visitors’ defense, touched it and then hammered it into the roof of the net.

The 25-year-old then put his finger to his lips in a phishing move after celebrating a week of negative headlines.

However, the strike was then ruled out after a VAR review found the ex-Everton and Watford ace to have been ruled offside.

His name was perhaps a surprise choice on the team sheet – especially after his manager Antonio Conte agreed the samba star was “s***” this season.

And in an explosive press conference on Friday, the Tottenham boss also said the striker had “not scored” and labeled him “selfish”.

Spurs spent £60m for Everton to sign Richarlison last summer but he has only scored twice in 25 games after an injury-plagued season.

He came on for the final 20 minutes of his side’s Champions League draw against AC Milan on Wednesday, a result that put them out of the competition and after that the star benched his manager for benching him and said it was “s***” this season.

However, he thought he had silenced his critics with an early goal against Forest – but fans loved that his silent and deafening celebration was for nothing.

One fan wrote: “Richarlison scored his first goal for Tottenham celebrated the silence and it was cancelled. You can’t make up for that!”

Another said: “Lol Richardson did the shhhh Celebration only for the VAR to say no goal for offside.

One football fan wrote: “Richarlison celebration full of arrogance.”

As another said: “I have Richardson shhh Conte just to make his goal offside? That is hard!”

Conte said yesterday: “First I watched Richarlison’s interview. He didn’t criticize me. He said his season sucked and he’s right.

“His season wasn’t good. He had injuries, played and scored in the Champions League and then went to the World Cup and then had a serious injury.

“He didn’t score any goals for us. I think he was really honest in saying his season wasn’t good. His season isn’t over yet. If he deserves to play, I’ll give him the opportunity.

“For the rest of the interview, I believe he made a mistake. If you speak of “I” and not of “us”, you are being selfish.

“I tell my players that if we want to build something important and win a trophy, we have to use ‘we’ and not ‘I’ because otherwise you’re thinking of yourself.

“He made a mistake and he apologized and it was good for me to sort that out with the team. In this aspect we have to improve. We need to be more of a team and show more positive vibes, especially in negative moments.”

Conte continued: “Sometimes being a good guy isn’t enough. You have to show the right will and fight to win the game and duels to be evil. I think we’re a bit soft sometimes, but I’m the coach and I’m the first person responsible for making that happen and it doesn’t happen every time.

“I have to improve the team and I have to improve the spirit of my team. That has always happened in the past and I hope it happens here.”
