Two fires were deliberately started in York on Bellhouse Way

The North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to Maple Grove in York at 7.46pm last night (September 30).

York crews responded to reports of a grass fire near the Millennium Bridge.

They put out the fire with a backpack sprayer and a bucket of water. The reason was clear.

Earlier in the evening, just after 7pm, crews were called to reports of a fire in Bellhouse Way, York.

On this occasion, York crews responded to a burning dumpster near a theme park. They used a bucket of water to extinguish the fire. The reason was clear.
