Two men attempt to steal tills and safe from Carryduff Shopping Centre business

Police are asking for information after two men tried to remove a safe and tills from a shop at Carryduff shopping centre.

The attempted burglary took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A PSNI spokesman said they received a report at 3.10am that a break-in was in progress.

Two men, described as 5ft 8 to 5ft 10 inches tall and dressed in dark clothing, forced open a back door before entering the premises and ransacked, attempting to remove a safe and tills.

They then walked away from the scene of the crime.

The PSNI spokesman added: “Fortunately nothing was reported stolen on this occasion.

“This company had excellent security measures that helped thwart the criminals’ efforts.

“It’s Economic Crime Action Week and the public will see increased patrols in towns and cities as we work with local businesses and the community.

“We urge retailers and other businesses to contact their local neighborhood and crime prevention officers for advice and guidance on their own safety procedures.

“Our investigation into this incident is ongoing and we are asking anyone with information to call the police on 101 quoting reference number 111 18/10/20 or report online using the non-emergency reporting form via www.psni. to police .uk/makeareport”
