“Unicorn” Elk With Antler Sticking Straight Out Of Its Forehead Spotted On Washington Trail Cam

This looks like some nonsense you would see out of a horror movie.

Imagine you are hiking through the forest enjoying the peace and scenery when suddenly a moose with antlers sticking out of its forehead appears?

I’d have to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t in the twilight zone.

You would never believe a creature like this existed, but believe it or not, there is at least one in the United States.

Corresponding KIRO7, A moose with antlers sticking straight out of its forehead was spotted on a wildlife cam in Tampico, Washington last Sunday.

Kyle Garrison, a representative for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, told the outlet that the antlers are an unusual anomaly and a naturally occurring phenomenon.

He also admitted that this is a first for him.

The deviated antlers could be the result of an injury either directly to the antlers or an injury early in the moose’s life that would inhibit antler development, or it may just be old, obscure genetics.

Hormones could also be a result of something like this.

Garrison admits that everything seems to be genetic with this particular moose.

He also noted that the antlers are unlikely to harm the moose, but could affect their ability to feed and their ability to reproduce.

He added that the stalk where the antlers grow is in an unusual place, meaning that once the moose sheds the antlers, it will most likely grow new ones in the exact same spot.
