The Mountain West Conference Tournament championship is at stake when No. 20 San Diego State meets Utah State at 6:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Thomas & Mack Stadium in Las Vegas. Read on for an analysis of the state of Utah versus the state of San Diego.
San Diego State (26-6), the tournament’s top seed, has won three straight games and nine of the last 10 after beating San Jose State 64-49 in Friday’s semifinals. Third-placed Utah State (26-7) extended its winning streak to seven games by beating Boise State 72-62 in the other semifinal.

Prospects for the State of Utah
Junior guard Max Shulga helped the Utah State rally in the second half on Friday against Boise State by scoring 14 of his team-best 19 points in the last 20 minutes. He also had five assists.

Junior guard Steven Ashworth has a team-high 16.4 points and dished out 4.6 assists in a game that ranks fourth in the MWC. As of Friday night, Ashworth had 14 points despite only shooting 3 of 10 from three-point range.

San Diego State will be playing in its sixth straight MWC Finals and has an all-time 41-17 record in the event.

Utah State vs San Diego State Prediction
San Diego State has won three straight games against Utah State, including winning the regular-season series this year.
The Aztecs won 85-75 at home on January 25 and 63-61 away on February 8. In the first game, Adam Seiko came off the bench and led San Diego State with 25 points in 27 minutes while Funk had a team-high 22 points for Utah State. The Aztecs’ Bradley and the Aggies’ Ashworth had 18 points to take the honors in the rematch.
