We’re wrapping up the Netflix series Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 Episode 7, “Pecheneg,” which will contain significant spoilers.

Some penultimate episodes are hit and miss, and while some might not like the direction Vikings: Valhalla season 2 episode 7 proves that quality storytelling is behind it all. As we reach the finale, the characters reach the end of their journey and anything can happen. Let’s recap the penultimate chapter.

Season 2 Episode 7 begins with Leif fight in the water after taking the boat down the waterfall. He reaches the surface. Harold seek all and find Mariam. As Harald checks his boat, he sees the Pechenegs approaching. He tells Mariam to hide while he introduces himself. They ask about its cargo and then search the ship. Luckily, Mariam’s hiding place is good as she is not found. The Pechenegs capture Harald to see how valuable he is.

The other travelers find each other and look for Harald and Mariam. Mariam is found and she tells them that Harald has been captured. Leif asks them to get the boat back in the water while he finds Harald. However, some of them insist that they will help, including kurya. Unfortunately, after the waterfall, there is a death in the group – Cadlin is dead after drowning.

The leader of the Pechenegs interrogates Harald – he tells them he is a Viking and challenges him. Meanwhile, Leif and others arrive at the settlement and devise a plan to rescue Harald.

The leader of the Pechenegs decides to test Harald and has his men stab through the skin on his chest with sharp blades on either side. It looks harrowing. Then they attach ropes to the blades and pull him up against the skin. It’s an ordeal for Harald, but he manages the pain. And then the Pechenegs get him higher.

Leif enters the tent with Kurya and asks for a bargain – the Khan’s brother and two horses. They seem to accept the deal, but it’s clear they have no intention of negotiating. Meanwhile, the women are nearby, observing the development of the situation. Leif, Kurya and Harald are tied up outside. The women infiltrate the camp and set it on fire while Leif is tortured with a knife on his back. The women led by Elenaenter on horseback and shoot down as many Pechenegs as you can.

Kurya asks Leif to leave him, but he refuses. Everyone flees on horseback back to the boat. Kurya walks away, knowing he must sacrifice himself to help them escape. He goes into the forest and Khan, his brother, captures him. Kurya calls Khan a coward who is afraid of the Pecheneg and then blows poison in his face. Khan suddenly lost his sight, just like his brother. Khan tells his men to kill Kurya if he dies.

in Novgorod, Olaf would like to find out where Jomsborg is located. He’s looking at a map, desperately searching for a place no one has ever found.

Khan’s men drag Kurya to the river bank to kill him while Harald and his travelers sail away. Kurya is slowly being tortured. Deciding to end his suffering, Leif guns down Kurya from afar to kill him. The travelers flee, but it comes at a price.

in Jomsborg, Freydis welcomes everyone to the city and allows them to enter the temple. There is excitement among the people. Freydis then agrees Gudrid. Gudrid is fine with the changes, but regrets her mistakes as a mother and wishes she could do better Jorundr. Freydis tells her that Jorundr saved her and that should be celebrated.

At the end of the episode, the exiled Jorundr is found at sea by Olaf and his men. Olaf now has a chance to find Jomsborg. He smiles. He knows he’s around to find Freydis.
