ROCHESTER, NY — Viktor Hovland turned up again for a major championship round looking a mix of a Caddyshack Extra and a digital billboard in Times Square. That didn’t seem to worry the 25-year-old Norwegian, who pulled off an excellent two-under-68 shot on a difficult course at Oak Hill.

For the opening round of this PGA championship, Hovland started the day in a zip-up jacket that screamed “Oslo construction workers” before the sun came out to expose it orange-yellow gradient golf shirt, turns him into a Dorito.

The world No. 11 also caused a stir at the Masters last month when he played the first round in a pink floral shirt that Don Cherry reportedly rejected when he was shopping for a suit at Fabricland.
However, like beauty, fashion is in the eye of the beholder and the t-shirt soon sold out worldwide. Hovland was asked if he dresses so extravagantly off the golf course.
“NO. I wear a lot of grey, black and that’s about it,” he said.
