Virat Kohli has responded to Pakistani skipper Babar Azam’s tweet supporting struggling Team India Batter. Kohli thanked Azam and wished him the very best too.
Following Kohli’s dismissal for 16 in the second ODI against England at Lord’s on Thursday (July 14), Azam took to his official Twitter account and offered words of encouragement to the former India captain.
He posted a picture of himself with the Star Indian Batter and wrote:
“This too will pass. Stay strong #ViratKohli.”
In response to the viral tweet, which garnered praise for Azam, Kohli commented:
“Thank you. Shine on and rise. Wish you all the best 👏.”
Earlier in the day, the 33-year-old shared a philosophical tweet as pressure mounted on him over his poor run in international cricket. He posed in front of an artwork with two wings and a message that read:
“What if I fall… Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?”
The under-fire cricketer shared the cryptic post with a one-word caption:
Kohli had an extremely bad run in England during the current tour. So far he has scored 11, 20, 1, 11 and 16 in the three formats.
“I know what a player goes through in such a phase” – Babar Azam opens Kohli tweet
At a press conference ahead of Pakistan’s first test against Sri Lanka in Galle, Azam was asked about his commendable gesture of supporting Kohli.
Sharing his thoughts, he explained:
“As a player myself I know that you can go through a phase like that and I also know what a player goes through in a phase like this. At times like this you need support. I just tweeted because I thought there was just some support will. He’s one of the best players.”
Azam also backed the Indian batsman to overcome the pathetic form he had encountered over the past couple of seasons. He commented:
“He plays a lot of cricket and knows how to get out of situations like this. It takes time when you support players, it’s going to be really good.”
Kohli is likely to feature in the third ODI of the series against England, to be played at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday (July 17).
The batter has been rested for the upcoming tour of the West Indies, which will feature three ODIs and five T20Is.
