Where is your favorite school?
Growing up, there was always one university I always wanted to go to – the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Now, I know a lot of people don’t necessarily know where they want to go to college until they have to make the decision, but for most people, they take pride in where they go to school. Deciding where you are going to spend the next 4 (or 5 or 6 or 7…) years learning what will hopefully be your career is a big deal.
Well, WalletHub has released its annual list of the top 10 colleges & universities in Louisiana. I have to admit that when I first saw this list I had to look up where UL Lafayette ranked. I also noticed one big name that didn’t make the top 10.
How do they get these rankings?
Before I answer that, the reason the list is even published is because November 1st marks the first application deadline for “early decision” colleges.
As a personal finance site, WalletHub considers financial aspects like their admission rate, but they also look at the net cost of attending school and the median salary after attending.
Here are some other factors that WalletHub takes into account:
- student-faculty ratio
- crime on campus
- gender and racial diversity
- completion rate
WalletHub did this not only for colleges and universities in Louisiana, but also for schools across the country. It’s part of their effort to help college-bound seniors make the most informed school decisions.
