In just three months since the launch of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, the developers of Fatshark have returned and have clearly admitted that the game in its current state is unable to live up to the expectations they had for themselves.
In a post published on the game’s official Twitter account on Jan. 24, Martin Wahlund said that the company hadn’t built a high-performing, stable, and simple game with a depth that would keep your game going for weeks, not hours .

Looking at what’s going on, Wahlund says the team prioritizes full crafting, a more rewarding progression loop, and game stability and performance optimization. This also means that the launch of seasonal content, premium cosmetics, and the Xbox X|S version have been delayed.
The game has been a huge hit since the game’s launch. The new content will be available flexibly over several months and even years. The amount of content with the current amount, rather than the state of the game, has cheated many players as it has been impossible to hold for weeks or months.
Over the weeks, players have noticed that the game clearly shows how unfinished it is. The crafting system promised at launch is not yet available. This game does not support crossplay in any way, so PC players cannot play a game together on Steam and the Xbox app (the game is for Game Pass). There’s no campaign, mission select, or many other promised features.
The overall score on Steam is mixed, and recent reviews over the past 30 days are overwhelmingly negative. If you go to the Darktide subreddit and sort by most popular posts over the last month, there is a lack of content and communication from Fatshark amid the game’s steady decline in player base.
While many fans are a little skeptical about the promises made, considering the developer has never been successful on previous promises, others are hoping the game can revive over time, a frustratingly common practice for the unfinished games will.
