Basketball’s newest rivalry takes center stage Saturday night when the Golden State Warriors (36-35, 7-28 away) travel to Tennessee to take on the Memphis Grizzlies (42-27, 28-5 home) on the FedExForum. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
Both teams were in action on Friday. The Dubs lost their fifth straight game on the road, falling to the Atlanta Hawks when Trae Young took Steph Curry’s pocket with less than a minute left and Golden State within four points. Memphis, on the other hand, faced an ugly loss to the San Antonio Spurs but overcame a 29-point deficit to earn a much-needed win.
Warriors vs Grizzlies Odds
team | spread | money line | In total |
---|---|---|---|
Warriors of the Golden State | +4.5 (-110) | +165 | OUT OF |
Memphis Grizzlies | -4.5 (-110) | -196 | OUT OF |
The Grizzlies lay 4.5 points with moneyline odds of -196. They are 17-12-1 as the ATS home favourite. The Warriors have an NBA rating of +165 and are a dismal 5-14 as an ATS underdog.
Memphis currently holds the third seed in the Western Conference in the NBA playoff bracket, while Golden State is seventh and would be in the play-in tournament if the postseason started today.

Can dubs find out on the street?
Most teams usually play a lot better at home than away, but it’s literally night and day for the Warriors. Virtually unbeatable in the Bay Area, Steve Kerr’s team plays just awful basketball elsewhere, posting a lazy 7-28 record away from the Chase Center. Those struggles are evident right now, and with the West playoff race heating up, they need to find out in a hurry.
There are three games left on this current road trip and so far Golden State has lost the first two to the Clippers and Hawks. Once again, turnovers proved costly for the Atlanta dubs, who spat out the rock 17 times giving Quin Snyder’s team 21 points, including Steph’s costly error in the final minute of regulation.

Curry contributed a great deal, however, pouring in a game-high 31 points just two nights after being eliminated for 50. He didn’t have much help, however, as the team shot just 28% from downtown. Though Ja Morant is currently out due to his suspension, the Warriors will need to limit turnovers on Saturday as the Grizz thrive in the transition.

Grizzlies showing guts
It’s no secret that Memphis is missing Ja. He is the cornerstone of the franchise and a pillar of its success. However, victories like Friday’s show that even without Morant, the Grizzlies are a force to be reckoned with. After a terrible first half that saw Taylor Jenkins’ group beaten 69-46, they turned things up in the next two periods.
Memphis scored 63 points to just 40 for the lowly Spurs in the second half before beating San Antonio in overtime. Entries really came from everywhere, with every single entrant scoring in the double digits. Jaren Jackson Jr.’s 28 was the leader, while Desmond Bane and Tyus Jones both added more than 20 points as well.

The Grizzlies even found themselves in a nine-point hole with a minute left, continuing a 9-0 run to force overtime. The definition of a brave victory. In doing so, Memphis went 4-3 without Morant, who is still serving an eight-game suspension.
Warriors vs Grizzlies Prediction
It’s difficult to ignore Golden State’s inconsistencies on the street. Add in the fact that home-from-home Memphis is stellar and this feels like an easy choice. But I like the money line more than the spread. It could get tight.
Tip: Grizzlies Moneyline (-196)
