The Chicago Sky will host the Washington Mystics on Friday night. The Sky dropped the contest Tuesday, 84-78 to the Dallas Wings. They are now 23-8 at the end of the year and will be staying home on Friday.

The Mystics defeated the Las Vegas Aces 83-73 and improved their season record to 20-12. Washington is the fifth seed, which will likely be the lowest given they have a 4.5 game lead over sixth.

The Sky have had a great year and they have the best record in the league but against the spread they are 15-15 in one fell swoop. Of late, odds makers have overestimated Chicago’s abilities, but they’re still one of the most talented teams in the league.

In the last game, Kahleah Copper had 19 points with 11 rebounds. The former Mystics guard leads the Sky with a career-high 15.5 per game. Look for her to build on her recent excellent play on Friday.

As a team, Chicago was the most efficient in the WNBA with 47.7% from the field. They are currently leading the season series two games to one against the Mystics, losing the final matchup 84-82. However, The Sky has covered all three competitions and with Washington star Elena Delle Donne resting her chances of making it to four are good.

The visiting Mystics have won five out of six, helping them secure a playoff spot. Delle Donne is their top scorer with 17.0 per game. If she’s out Tuesday, look for Ariel Atkins and Natasha Cloud to fill the gap.

Atkins and Cloud combined for 29 points against the Aces, and they’ll need to be just as productive to notch the win in Chicago. Washington won last time Delle Donne was absent so we’ll see if they can do it again away from home.
