Watch: Lisa Marie Presley’s funeral at Graceland draws hundreds

Crowds of fans and celebrities gathered at Graceland on Sunday for Lisa Marie Presley’s memorial service.
Elvis Presley’s daughter lies next to her father and son Benjamin Keough, who committed suicide in 2020. She died in California on January 12, according to reports The Washington Post.
Opening the service, Joel Weinshanker, managing partner of Elvis Presley Enterprises, said Lisa Marie Presley asked for one thing for the service after her death: “Don’t make it sad.”
“Lisa, we’re going to try to accommodate your request today,” he said said.

During the ceremony, a letter from Riley Keough, daughter of Lisa Marie Presley, was read by Keough’s husband, Ben Smith-Petersen.
“I remember you bathed me as a baby and I remember you rode me in my car seat and listened to Aretha Franklin. I remember how you cuddled me at night and how you smelled. I remember you invited me over for ice cream after school in Florida. I remember you sang lullabies for me and my brother at night. I remember how you lay with us until we fell asleep,” Smith-Petersen to read.

“I remember how it felt to be loved by the most loving mother I have ever known. I remember how safe it felt to be in your arms. I remember that feeling as a kid and two weeks ago on your couch. Thank you for showing me that love is the most important thing in this life. I hope I can love my daughter like you loved me,” the letter said.

Priscilla Presley also read comments from Keough.
“She knew it was nearing the end. The guilt of the survivors, some would say, but a broken heart is the very act of their death. Now she’s home where she always belonged, but my heart misses her love,” said Priscilla Presley said on behalf of her granddaughter.

“Our hearts are broken Lisa and we all love you,” Priscilla Presley said.
“Lisa Marie Presley was an icon, a role model, a superhero for many people around the world,” she continued.
The memorial service included performances by Alanis Morissette, Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins and Axl Rose from Guns N’ Roses.
