Watch Post Malone jump on stage at Tootsies Nashville in 2018 to perform covers of Elvis, Hank and Merle

Everyone loves Posty.

Some time ago, Post Malone stopped at Tootsies, the legendary honky tonk on Lower Broadway in Nashville, and surprised the crowd by jumping on stage and performing.

Admittedly hammered, Post took the stage with two Bud Lights in one hand, a cigarette in the other, and laid down a couple of covers of some country classics.

“You guys caught a very drunk Post Malone and the boys tell me we’re playing Move It On Over.

Play that fucking gentleman.”

He performed Hank Williams’ “Move It On Over”, Elvis Presley’s “That’s Alright Mama” and Merle Haggard’s hit “Mama Tried”.

Pretty damn impressive if you ask me. Even if you hate Post Malone’s music, you have to admit that he probably knows more about classic country than half the artists currently on country radio.

Not to mention he’s toasted out of his pumpkin and still kind of carries a tune… and knows the words. Well, at least most of them…

“Just so you know, I canceled my show tomorrow to do this with you tonight.

These are the realest motherfuckers in the world, I’m too drunk to remember any words from these songs, the whole band keep kicking ass, let’s shred some shit!”

Needless to say, the crowd went absolutely nuts

Post Malone has proven 15 times that he’s a big country music guy

Post Malone recently ran out of Brad Paisley’s cover blessing “I will miss her” with Brad saying:

“Always humiliating when another artist does your song better than you.”

And it’s safe to say people were blown away… quiet.

And while that performance wowed tons of country fans (and even non-country fans), myself included, it becomes pretty obvious if you dig deep into the archives that Posty has been a fan of country music for a long, long time .

Let’s take a look at 15 times the rapper has shown his passion for the genre.

15. His upbringing

Although Austin Richard Post was born in Syracuse, NY, he was introduced to music at an early age by his father, who was a DJ at the time. His family later moved to Grapevine, TX, where his father became a franchises manager for the Dallas Cowboys. Growing up in Texas, he was constantly surrounded by this genre.

14. T-Shirts and Clothing

Since Post burst onto the rap scene in 2013, he’s been caught countless times wearing country music t-shirts and cowboy hats.

He was spotted swinging last November Colt’s wall T-shirt during the premiere of his new Celebrity World Pong League and a badass cowboy hat. And then, earlier this month, he was spotted wearing one Tyler Childers T-shirt during a video shoot.

He even rocked in Dolly Parton outfit at Bonnaro in 2019 and a Tim McGraw shirt on stage in Nashville.

Not only does Post like country music, he obviously has great taste.

13. Singing with Dwight Yoakam

Post joined the country singer in 2018 Dwight Yoakam on SiriusXM Radio for a duet on Yoakam’s song “A Thousand Miles From Nowhere,” and Posty looked like he was having the time of his life.

Of course, he also recently borrowed Yoakam’s band for his We’re Texas performance.

12. Covered Hootie & the Blowfish’s “Only Wanna Be With You”

In February, Post published a cover of Hootie’s “Just wanna be with you,” and absolutely crushed it. although Hootie & the Blowfish was an alternative rock group, it had heavy South Carolina country music influences with lead singer Darius Rücker, who is still thriving in his country music career.

11. Rock out to John Michael Montgomery’s “Sold”

last december, Post published a video of him serenading his friends and taking the ’90s country classic HARD. I mean, he knows every single word.

10. Cover version of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right”

Bob Dylan has had a huge impact on the country music world, and he even wrote part of the iconic (and now annoying) country song Wagon Wheel. And in 2013, Post covered Dylan’s 1963 hit “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.”

9. He is a good friend of Billy Strings

last november, Billy Strings posted a picture on Instagram with Post, and according to Billy, they were up to backwoods redneck shit. Strings even played a bluegrass cover of Post Malone’s song, “circles” last August.

There are also recordings of Strings playing Hank Williams and Johnny Cash songs on Post’s guitar.

8. Hosted a virtual beer pong tournament with some country stars

The Post hosted one last year Virtual Beer Pong Tournament Dubbed the Celebrity World Pong League, with a field spanning both Morgan Wallen and Kane Brown, along with several other celebrities.

This was also where he was spotted rocking the Colter Wall t-shirt.

7. Cover version of Hank Williams’ “There’s A Tear In My Beer”

Not only has Post proven that he’s a big country guy, he’s also an OG country fan. He also posted a video of Hank Williams with Tito’s Vodka and a Bud Light 40… it doesn’t get any worse than that.

6. He wants to make a song with the king

Post stated in a interview 2015, with whom he wanted to make a song George street, and Toby Keith.

5. He joined Blake Shelton, Little Big Town and Mac Davis for an Elvis tribute

In 2019, Post took the stage with Blake Shelton, Little Big Town and Mac Davis and performed Elvis Presley’s song “Blue Suede Shoes” for the Elvis All Star Tribute. I mean come on this guy can sing pretty much every genre out there.

4. He took over Nashville’s world famous bar Tootsies

One night while in Nashville, Posty decided to go on stage at arguably Nashville’s most popular bar, Tootsie’s. And no, the fans haven’t heard “I Fall Apart” or “Congratulations”, he did some hard hitting covers of Hank Williams, Elvis and Co Merle Haggard.

3. He jammed with Toby Keith

In 2016, Post for a came out Toby Keith show and hung out with the country singer for a while. He even jammed with Keith after the show.

2. He wants to do a song with Shania Twain

Post given in an interview with whom he would like to work Shania Twain, specifically a cover of “Man! I feel like a woman.”

“I’d love to! I don’t see why not. I think it sounds like a good time. I’d take the band and do a nice big cover with it. I want a full horn section and everything, like a 30-piece band, and we’re just going to rock out.”

say less. I would pay big bucks to see this.

And remember he went crazy over Shania at the AMAs? GREAT mood.

1. His performances for “We’re Texas”

And finally, the moment that really caught the world’s attention.

If you watch his renditions of “You Can Have The Crown” and “I’m Gonna Miss Her,” you can’t help but notice how committed he is. I mean, he’s literally blown away with happiness when that steel guitar solo on “I’m Gonna Miss Her” starts to tear.

Now that we have 15 examples (at least) that prove Post Malone is a big country guy, there’s only one thing left for him to do… put together a badass country project and save the world.

Can I get an amen?
