Wendy’s announces the opening of a restaurant in Middlesbrough
American burger and fries brand Wendy’s will open its doors at Captain Cook’s Square in Middlesbrough after revealing its new address will be 16 Newport Crescent in the city.
The new restaurant in Middlesbrough joins other new store openings the company has announced for the UK. Restaurants are also set to open in Leeds, Peterborough, Guilford, Derby and Cambridge.

These new restaurants are expected to create more than 240 new jobs across the six locations.
While Wendy’s has made a big name for itself in the US, it is a new concept in the UK, launched in 2021 following the opening of Wendy’s in Liverpool and Portsmouth.
To date, Wendy’s has opened 30 locations.

Although the restaurant’s arrival in Middlesbrough and location have been confirmed, an opening date has not yet been set.
At the new restaurants, Wendy’s fans can find the same specialties they know and love from the U.S., including the Baconator, Dave’s Double, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and the classic Frosty dessert.
Here’s what people can expect at Wendy’s:
Bacon maker: Half a pound of British beef, American cheese, six pieces of crispy Applewood smoked bacon, ketchup and mayo.
Dave’s single: A quarter pound of British beef, American cheese, crisp lettuce, tomato, cucumber, ketchup, mayonnaise and onion on a toasted bun. It is named after Wendy’s founder.
The Spicy Chicken Sandwich: A juicy chicken breast, marinated and breaded in a fiery mixture of peppers and spices, cooled with crisp lettuce, tomatoes and mayonnaise.

The curry bean burger: It’s the signature black bean patty mixed with chickpeas and vegetables, topped with Monterrey Jack cheese, juicy tomatoes, crisp lettuce and curry mayonnaise – all on a toasted bun.
Icy: Wendy’s signature dessert – cool, creamy and refreshing – thick enough to use a spoon, smooth enough to use a straw. Available in vanilla and chocolate.
Baconator fries: Naturally cut, sea salt-brushed French fries topped with warm, creamy cheese sauce, shredded cheddar and crispy Applewood smoked bacon.
Seasoned potatoes: Half moon seasoned potatoes with a blend of spices, served crispy and piping hot.
