“We’ve been winning some silverware, which is a big goal of mine, I always want to win things” – 23-year-old Chelsea star responds when asked if he’ll leave in case big-money offer arrives

Chelsea attacker Mason Mount has told Tatler magazine he is determined to win trophies after being asked if he would consider leaving Stamford Bridge in a big money swap.

Mount has found his form after a disappointing start to the season in which he went 11 games without a goal.

Under new coach Graham Potter, he was a standout player with two goals and three assists under the England tactician.

However, Mount’s contract with the Blues runs until 2024 and there has been speculation that top European sides could consider a move.

The Englishman was asked if he could follow in the footsteps of compatriot Jack Grealish, who joined Manchester City from Aston Villa in 2021 for £100million.

“I do not know. The money is …”

he continued

“I’ve obviously always been a Chelsea boy. I’m very, very happy here. We won some silverware which is a big goal of mine, I always want to win things.”

Mount rose through the ranks at Chelsea before making his senior debut in 2019.

The England striker has made 174 appearances, scoring 32 goals and providing 36 assists.

During that time he has won the UEFA Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

Mount may have hinted he would like his side to secure more silverware as he heads towards the final stages of his current deal.

Mount’s struggles early in the season drew criticism from many as he failed to impress for both club and country.

Potter, who has been a catalyst for Mount’s rebound in form, is puzzled by the test that has come his way for the England striker, saying (via BBC Sport):

“It is a pleasure. He’s a fantastic person, he loves to play football and he loves the club here.”

Potter added:

“It’s surprising — I get a few questions, there seems to be mixed opinions about Mason. I find that strange, especially from the outside.”

Mount is hoping to be part of the England squad traveling to Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the end of November.

He has 32 caps and scored five goals, including an important goal in the 3-3 draw against Germany in the UEFA Nations League on 26 September.

The versatility of the Chelsea attacker could be crucial for Three Lions head coach Gareth Southgate, given his ability to play both as a winger and in attacking midfield.
