‘We’ve Lost More to Inflation’ Than We Got from Stimulus Checks and We’ll ‘Get More Inflation’

On Newsmax TV’s Prime News, which aired Wednesday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) responded to a report that inflation meant the average household would have to spend $11,500 more to maintain the same standard of living by declaring: ” Now we’ve lost more to inflation than they gave us in terms of free money.” And predicted that due to the fact that not all of the coronavirus relief funds have been spent, there will be higher inflation when that money released into the economy.

Paul said: “What we do know for sure is that we’ve now lost more to inflation than they gave us in free money. The inflation came from the free checks being issued. They shut down the economy. They sent free checks to everyone. And they said, oh, that’ll make up for it. But guess what? When people add up how much they pay for gas and the grocery store, all the free money is wiped out. And I think inflation is far from over. There’s still about $2 trillion out there in the coffers of cities, counties and state governments that hasn’t been spent yet. As it is spent and put into the economy, as it chases goods, it will drive up the price of our goods. We’re going to get more inflation, so it’s not over yet.”
