What is the FBM Card in the PKL Auction?

The auction for the ninth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is upon us and the excitement among fans and players is palpable. The auction, which will take place on August 5th and 6th, will offer the 12 franchises the opportunity to revamp their roster upon seeing the coveted trophy.

Devoted fans are excited to see which jersey their favorite player will wear in PKL 9. Will we see Pardeep Narwal in Telugu Titans black and yellow? Or will Pawan Sehrawat make it to the Haryana Steelers? Well, maybe we’ll just see them return to their previous franchise.

This is made possible by the Final Bid Match (FBM) card. The FBM card allows teams to buy back players who were released from their sides prior to the auction at the price of an opposing team’s final bid.

The FBM card allows a team to wait and complete the bid for a player who was previously part of their team, and then buy him at the price of the final bid.

With U Mumba CEO Supratik Sen revealing they will be stalking Fazel Atrachali in the auction, we may see the Mumbai outfit using their FBM card on their former skipper.

However, there will be a limit to the number of FBM cards each team owns in the auction. Unlike last year, when franchises were allocated FBM cards based on the number of elite players they retained, this year all teams have the option to use up to 3 FBM cards.

How the FBM card will be used at the Pro Kabaddi Auction 2022

Upon completion of bidding on an unlocked player at the Pro Kabaddi 2022 auction, auctioneer Charu Sharma will present the franchise the player was involved with in PKL 8 to exercise his FBM card.

Should a team decide to use one of their FBM cards on that player, they will repurchase their services at the price of the bid. However, the team can also decline, which would result in the player being sold to the franchise that last raised the paddle.

The 2021 Pro Kabaddi Auction used the FBM card to retain names such as Shrikant Jadhav (UP Yoddha), Deepak Niwas Hodda (Jaipur Pink Panthers), Sandeep Dhull (Jaipur Pink Panthers) and Mahender Singh (Bengaluru Bulls), just to name a few. What is the FBM Card in the PKL Auction?
