When do the Christmas markets start in Manchester?
Manchester’s Christmas Markets made the North a little more magical on November 10th, 2022.
They will do so by Thursday December 22, 2022.
You can buy decorations, gifts, hot food and drinks every day from 10 a.m. during this period.
Food and drink stalls typically close at 9pm, while retail stalls close at 8pm.
Manchester City Council’s Chief Christmas Councilor, Pat Karney, said some time ago: “Christmas is looking better than ever in Manchester this year, with our world’s best Christmas markets opening in three weeks, and a whole host of other unmissable free festive goodies to come also come to us.
“Everyone knows Manchester does Christmas better than anywhere else and I’ve been counting down the days until our Christmas markets open again since the day they closed last year.
“We have some fantastic new festive additions to the markets this year, as well as a few others to be announced shortly, unmissable festive surprises that will be sure to make everyone in Manchester smile in the run up to Christmas.”
Where are the Christmas markets in Manchester?
There are several Christmas markets in Manchester.
The famous four are located at Exchange Square, St. Ann’s Square, King Street and Market Street.
Food and drink stalls and an ice rink will also be set up in Cathedral Gardens.
The Piccadilly Gardens are being transformed into the Winter Gardens and they promised that this year they will be “bigger and better than ever”.
What will the Christmas markets in Manchester have?
At the classic and four large Christmas markets you will find Christmas decorations, gifts, food and hot drinks such as mulled wine and hot chocolate.
At St Ann’s Square you will find the bar again with German beers and warm cherry mulled wine.
Meanwhile, on King Street, you can sample foods from across Europe, including Italian cannelloni, Greek gyros, French garlic mushrooms and Salford rum.
Thanks to the newcomer restaurant Habas, there will also be oriental dishes.
The ice rink in Cathedral Gardens opened on October 21, 2022, just in time for the half-year and you can test your ice skating skills until January 3, 2022.
They have also set up some food and drink stalls to help you recharge your batteries after a skating session.
At the Winter Gardens, visitors can enjoy some pancakes and churros, while there are also vegan options.
Vegans can sample Christmas with a selection of sausages, while stalls also sell cookie dough, Amsterdam fries and ales.
Over 18s can also enjoy the Nordic-style double tipi bar, which has heaters, mood lighting, wooden benches, faux fur, a fire pit, and some drinks.
There will also be DJs and artists throughout the week to keep the crowd entertained.
