When Will ‘Jeopardy!’ Host Ken Jennings Return? It’s Sooner Than You Think

Danger! is hosted by two people: Maiim Bialik and Ken Jennings. Everyone has their favorite and least favorite host at this point. Bialik has been hosting the program for months, so when is Jennings coming back? Luckily for Jennings fans, his return is just around the corner.

Ken Jennings’ return date has been set

After a short break, Jennings will return Danger! Next week. According to TV Guide, he will be back on Monday 18 July. He is expected to host the final two weeks of season 38, which is scheduled to end on July 29th. After that, fans will have to wait until September for new episodes. Many Danger! Fans have been vocal in supporting Jennings over Bialik, so that would be welcome news.

Season 38 in numbers

Season 36 was the last season directed by Alex Trebek and season 37 was marked by the lengthy hosting search. Now that Season 38 is coming to a close, we can look back at who are the powers that be most asked to host.

TIED TOGETHER: Danger!’ Fans argue over who is the best host: Mayim Bialik vs. Ken Jennings

The first week of season 38 was infamously hosted by Mike Richards as of September 13, 2021. Allegations of toxic behavior and sexist dialogue on a podcast crippled him, and the game show was quick to announce Jennings and Bialik as co-hosts. The two-host solution lasted all season, but that probably won’t be the case next year. Producers have been talking about drawing a final conclusion ahead of Season 39 and the much-anticipated Tournament of Champions.

After Richards left the lectern, Bialik hosted 35 games. Jennings took the reins for 20 games. Bialik returned for the Professor’s Tournament, then Jennings returned for the second half of Amy Schneider’s streak. 30 games later, Bialik came back for 10 games. Jennings hosted 30, then Bialik another 10. Jennings returned for the rest of Mattea Roach’s games, even 20. Bialik has hosted since, so every game by Ryan Long, Eric Ahasic and Megan Wachspress. That’s 45 games total before Jennings adds another 10 at the end of the year.

So who has hosted the most games? Richards is third with five, followed by Bialik with 100 and Jennings with 110. However, factoring in the Professor’s Tournament, Bialik and Jennings are tied with exactly 110 games each. You have to hand it to the producers: They didn’t pick a favourite.

What lies ahead?

There are many reasons to believe Jennings could be preferred to Bialik. He has already confirmed his return for Season 39 and has officially retired The hunt. He also accepted the show’s Daytime Emmy win while Bilaik was nowhere in sight. Producer Mike Davies insists a decision will be made “very, very soon,” and Danger! Fans can’t wait.

Whether it’s Jennings or Bialik, fans will have plenty to enjoy in Season 39. The upcoming Tournament of Champions, slated for fall, could be the most exciting in the series’ history. How will Long fare against Roach and Matt Amodio? Could Wachspress’ incredible luck be enough to defeat Schneider? We can hardly wait.
