Which LIV golfers made or failed at the PGA Championship
ROCHESTER, NY — Major championships appear to be offering the team atmosphere LIV Golf dreamed of when the Greg Norman-led breakaway kicked off.
Not many golf fans seem to care right now about the all-season clash between the Range Goats and the Fireballs, but four times a year at golf’s biggest events, there’s at least a slight feeling that it’s called LIV vs. The World.
At the Masters, Brooks Koepka appeared to be the first player on the Saudi-backed tour to win a major before faltering on Sunday. Phil Mickelson managed a late run and tied for second place with Koepka in Augusta.
Here in Oak Hill, 16 LIV golfers got their start at the PGA Championship on Thursday. There would have been 18 players but Martin Kaymer and Paul Casey withdrew through injury.
At the start of the weekend game, it’s safe to say that golf’s splinter tour has once again presented itself quite well.
After 36 holes, Bryson DeChambeau leads the LIVsters, who are fourth at three under par. On Saturday, the now shorter but still tall Bomber Bryson will compete in a pairing with Brooks Koepka, who is one shot behind his LIV brothers at two under par after shooting the day’s low round on Friday. a four-under-66.
For those keeping track, here’s the full list of LIV players who made it and those who didn’t:
