Who is Twitter’s new CEO confirmed by owner Elon Musk?

Musk, who is also CEO of electric car maker Tesla, announced that Linda Yaccarino will take over in a few weeks.

The owner has had a tumultuous start to its journey on the platform since buying it for $44 billion in October last year, laying off around 80 percent of its 8,000 employees worldwide and admitting it resulted in the platform losing a large chunk of its workforce lost functionality.

He also oversaw the abolition of the old “blue ticks,” which verified a user’s identity and were replaced with a paid subscription called Twitter Blue.

Elon Musk confirms new Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino

On Friday (May 12), Musk tweeted: “I’m delighted to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter!

“(She) will focus primarily on business operations while I focus on product design and new technologies.

“I look forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”

The news came a day after Musk announced he had hired a new employee general manageran unnamed woman, for the business.

musk tweeted on Thursday (May 11), also in the US: “I am pleased to announce that I have hired a new CEO (Chief Executive Officer) for X/Twitter. It will start in about 6 weeks!

“My role will transition to Executive Chairman and CTO, overseeing the products, software and sysops.

Speculation was fueled after NBCUniversal announced she was leaving the media giant immediately. It was not said where she would go after her retirement.

With Musk set to remain Twitter’s CEO, here’s what we know about the new CEO.

Linda Yaccarino is a graduate of Pennsylvania State universityUS.

She built her career as an advertising executive and has held various roles at Turner Broadcasting System Inc. – a global broadcasting company now part of Warner Bros., they say Sky news.

Yaccarino was previously a former advertising executive at NBCUniversal. Her official title at the company was President, Global Promotions and Partnerships.

She also played a key role in launching NBC’s ad-supported streaming service Peacock.

She added, “I see I’ve got some new followers… I’m not as productive as @elonmusk (yet!), but I’m just as committed to the future of this platform.”
