Who won Jeopardy! tonight? October 19, 2022, Wednesday

Danger! Season 39 has gone on hiatus for a few weeks, giving up its spot for the franchise’s postseason event, the Second Chance Tournament.

The official summary of the Second Chance Tournament reads:

“Second Chance, presented by Moderna, features 18 selected candidates who are not JEOPARDY! Champions in their first performances, returning to the stage for an unprecedented opportunity to change history.”

It goes on:

“The competition will be broadcast over the course of two weeks; Each week there will be three semi-finals and a two-day final. The winner of each week’s mini-tournament will earn a spot in the upcoming Tournament of Champions, which begins Monday, October 31.”

The latest episode welcomed two players from Season 38 – Renée Russell (first released April 28, 2022), a branch manager from Baltimore, Md., and Pam Schoenberg (November 30, 2021), a dentist and entrepreneur from South Salem. NY

They were joined by a Season 37 player, James Fraser (March 10, 2021), a Naval Aviator from Newport Beach, California.

Today’s Danger! Winner, James Fraser

In the latest episode, which aired on October 19, 2022, the three players did their best to score big for the second time on the show.

Round one categories included A Place in History, Television, Writers’ Middle Names, Holidays and Holidays, Home Computers, Gobbling Food Talk.

James Fraser led in the first round after picking his first daily double. With 13 correct answers, he deposited $8,800. Pam Schoenberg got nine correct answers and netted $4,600, while Renée Russell raked in $1,000 by answering four questions correctly.

In the second round, the categories were “What A Butte!, The Parent Company, Science & Nature, Adjectives, Faith Hope & Charity, Second Chance Songs”.

James found the daily double again and took the lead on this lap as well. He netted $20,800 while Pam was not far behind with $15,400. Unfortunately, Renée couldn’t match her results against her competitors after losing her first daily double. Her score in the Double Jeopardy round was -$800 and her negative score prevented her from entering the final round.

The Final Jeopardy went to James as he was the only one who got the last question right. With Renée unable to attend and Pam losing her stake money, James’ total was the highest on the October 19 episode.

Hence James Fraser won Danger! today.
