Why did WWE legend Kevin Nash have to retire from basketball? All you need to know

Kevin Nash was basketball’s loss and wrestling’s win. Before Nash embarked on his path as one of WWE’s iconic figures, he had ambitions to one day play in the NBA.

Nash, who became a legend in the wrestling world as “Diesel,” spent three years at the University of Tennessee in the SEC. However, an incident in college forced him to give up his basketball dreams.

The big man reportedly got into an argument with former coach Don DeVoe, who allegedly blamed Nash for the loss to Kentucky. After his jersey was allegedly “grabbed” by the head coach, Nash “b***hsmacked” him.

The dustiness eventually changed his life when he left school afterwards. He tried to keep his dream alive by playing basketball abroad, but a debilitating knee injury eventually put him out of the world of baskets.

A few years after working various jobs, Kevin Nash debuted in WCW as “Steel”.
