Wilko rescue bid from HMV owner Doug Putman fails
HMV owner Doug Putman was hoping to make a rescue offer for Wilko that would have allowed him to keep up to 300 shops open across the UK.
But this latest rescue attempt failed due to rising costs, according to the BBC.
There are now more than 12,000 jobs and over 350 left over Wilko branches in danger.

The BBC said: “Some of them WilkoThe remaining stores could be sold to rival retailers such as Poundland or The Range.
“The administration is expected to announce details of job losses and store closures in the coming days.”
Wilko closes 52 branches
PwC administration announced last week that 52 Wilko stores across the UK would close as early as tomorrow.
The closures will result in 1,016 layoffs.
There will be a further 299 redundancies at the two distribution centers in Worksop and Newport, while more than 260 redundancies have been made at the support centre.
