Dear Edward is a drama series created by Apple Original Jason Katims (friday night lights And parenting), who wrote a handful of the major episodes. The show is based on the hugely successful novel of the same name by Ann Napolitano. It tells the story of Edward Adler (Colin O’Brien), the only person to survive a horrific plane crash on American soil. As the series progresses, Edward must cope with his newfound fame, the weight and responsibility of being the sole survivor, and the usual teenage high school problems that come with puberty.

The series is supported by a large cast of family members and friends who lost loved ones in the crash. Most of these key players meet and bond in an airline-sponsored grief group. Among the mourners is Edward’s Aunt Lacey (Taylor Schilling), who has private problems of her own. These strangers interact with each other and quickly become friends as they help each other progress and cope with their grief.

Dear Edward currently has a rating of 7.3 on IMDB and a rating of 55% on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics were discouraged by the show’s heightened emotional angle and overwhelming, depressing theme. However, this tearjerker won over audiences more than critics. It was praised for its excellence and emotional portrayal of grief. With such a mix of reactions, will Apple TV+ renew the show for a second appearance?

Will there be a second season of Dear Edward – extended or canceled status?

There is no announcement yet regarding the renewal status of Dear Edward. It is unclear whether there will be a second season of the series. It’s not the most popular title for the streaming platform, but it’s consistently made its way into the top 15 charts over the weeks, and IMDB reviews are encouraging. I haven’t read the novel the series is based on, but it’s easy to imagine that the show used most if not all of the source material available. Apple TV+ may take some time to make a decision about that, but it wouldn’t be out of the question Dear Edward to renew in the coming weeks or months.
