Will there be a fourth season of The Great? (May 17 update)

The great is an intentionally inaccurate historical and satirical interpretation of the Russian monarchy created by Tony McNamara (The favourite). This Hulu Original Series focuses on the lives of Peter III (Nicholas Hoult)the former Emperor of Russia, and Catherine the Great (Elle Fanning), the current empress. Their unusual love affair is the focus.

In the third season, Catherine and Peter seek marriage counseling after Catherine tried to kill her husband in the previous season’s finale. She actually stabbed Peter’s doppelganger, Pugachev, who acted as a surrogate for such predicaments.

However, Peter is not innocent in this matter. He slept with Catherine’s mother and then accidentally killed her.

Parallel to this tumultuous marriage, Catherine must contend with a growing uprising among the peasant population and a great deal of deceit and betrayal from her own allies. As always, Archie (Adam Godley) and Elizabeth (Belinda Bromilow) stand by to advise Catherine on these tricky arguments.

Also, the awkward love triangle between Grigor (Gwilym Lee), Marial (Phoebe Fox) and Georgina (Charity Wakefield) returns. Swedish royals Hugo (Freddie Fox) and Agnes (Grace Molony) aren’t far behind either, plotting their own devious plan. And of course, the cast will feature General Velementov (Douglas Hodge), Dr. Vinodel (Julian Barratt) and Marial’s 11-year-old husband, Maxim (Henry Meredith).

Hulu’s original was a huge hit for the streaming platform, but will there be a fourth season?

Hulu has yet to confirm the renewal The great for season 4. After a big twist in season 3, it’s likely that officials are in the process of assessing viewership and figuring out where the story might go for a fourth episode.

We fully expect to hear any news by July.

Hulu has yet to announce the fate The great and whether it will be renewed for a fourth appearance, but it feels like the renewal will be confirmed any day now. Next to The story of the maid, The great is one of the streamer’s most successful, well-known and longest-running series. It has a solid fan base and is adored by critics; It’s safe to assume that the series will be renewed, right?

The series was well-received by critics for all three seasons. Rotten Tomatoes gave Season 1 an 89% score, Season 2 an overwhelming 100% score, and Season 3 also currently has a 100% score, albeit from a smaller portion of reviews. At IMDB, the stats are similarly impressive, with a current rating of 8.2.

The series has also done well in TV awards and nominations largely due to its excellent script and acting. It seems likely that season three will again end with some Emmy nods.

Given all this information, it seems almost certain that the show will be renewed. Although the TV landscape is at a rather strange point right now due to strikes and rising streaming numbers, it wouldn’t be entirely surprising if the show were cancelled. Hopefully, however, Hulu will come to their senses and refresh the show.
