Will there be a second season of XO, Kitty?

XO, Kitty is a romantic dramedy series directed by Jenny Han (The summer I got pretty), which has made a spin-off from her own hugely successful TV series To all boys film franchise.

This Netflix Original focuses on Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart)the younger sister of Lara Jean, the star of To all the boys I’ve loved before.

In the spin-off series, Kitty travels halfway across the world to be with her long-distance boyfriend. Dae (Minyeong Choi). She enrolls in Dae’s school in Seoul and gets a last-minute scholarship so she can be closer to her pen pal and find herself during this crazy adventure.

Once she lands in Seoul, Kitty discovers that Dae has been cheating on her with a rich student named Yuri (Gia Kim). Kitty must decide between chasing after her dream boyfriend or going in search of someone new in this strange new world.

The series has all the right ingredients for a guaranteed Netflix hit, combining K-drama (cast, setting and language) with the usual teenage rom-com.

With so much going for it, will Netflix be quick to renew the series for a second release?

Will there be a Season 2 of XO, Kitty – extended or canceled status?

XO, Kitty It’s yet to be renewed for a second season by Netflix, although I wouldn’t be surprised if they announce a renewal in the coming weeks or months. This spin-off series is unlikely to fail as it has so many pluses on its side.

Due to the embargo, no critical reviews will be published before release, so we can only speculate what the critics will think of the series. However, Jenny Hans’ past projects have all turned out alarmingly well. The summer I got pretty holds a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, while the films in the To all boys trilogy are all rated fresh.

Jenny Hans’ previous work has always been well received, so her latest work looks like another surefire hit for Netflix.

The Korean elements mixed with the typical teenage rom-com tropes of an already established franchise make this a win-win scenario for the streaming giants.

As for the end of the first season, the narrative, as always, remains open to further development. There is still a lot of this world to discover and Netflix would be stupid not to continue Kitty’s adventure. If you haven’t guessed it yet, I assume this series will be renewed.
