ance Reddick, star of The Wire and John Wick franchise, has died at the age of 60, his representatives have confirmed.

The US actor died on Friday morning, with his death being attributed to natural causes, according to his publicist.

Reddick has starred as Charon in all four of the John Wick films starring Keanu Reeves, the last of which is due out in the UK next week.

In the high-octane thriller films, Charon is the impassive hotel concierge at New York’s underground criminal hub, the Continental Hotel.

Before his death, Reddick had conducted a number of press interviews for the film.

Chad Stahelski, director of Reeves and John Wick, described him as a “consummate professional” in a joint statement to US media.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick,” the statement said.

“He was the consummate professional and a pleasure to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family and friends.

“We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him very much.”

Reddick began his screen career in the mid-1990s with guest roles on shows like The Nanny and New York Undercover, followed by big screen roles on Great Expectations and The Siege.

He later landed the role of Cedric Daniels on the hit HBO drama The Wire, in which he appeared in all 60 episodes alongside stars such as Dominic West, Idris Elba, Michael K Williams and Wendell Pierce.

In an online tribute to Reddick, Pierce described him as “a man of great strength and grace” and described his death as “a sudden, unexpected, sharp, painful affliction for our family of artists.”

“As a talented musician as well as an actor. The epitome of class,” Pierce wrote on Twitter, sharing a picture of Reddick.

“A sudden, unexpected, sharp, painful sadness for our family of artists. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones.

“Thank God, my friend. You have made your mark here. REST IN PEACE.”

Reddick was also known for his work on the television shows Fringe, Bosch, and Lost.

He also lent his voice to animated series such as Adult Swim’s Rick And Morty.

Reddick is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick and children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick.
