Woman (33) charged with murder of Tony Browne in west Belfast

On Monday, a 33-year-old woman will appear in court for the murder of Tony Browne.

Officials from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team, which is investigating the murder of 54-year-old Mr Browne in Poleglass, west Belfast on Friday October 14, said the accused will appear at Lisburn Magistrates Court on October 17.

As usual, all charges will be examined by the prosecutor.

Mr Browne, a longtime resident of Woodside Park, died in hospital after suffering stab wounds at his home.

On Saturday, a bouquet of flowers with a message of condolences was attached to the fence of the property where the murder took place.

Police officers were seen conducting house-to-house investigations in the cul-de-sac and surrounding streets.

Tributes flooded social media following news of Mr Browne’s death, with many calling the victim a “decent bloke”.

“He was a gentleman who would have helped anyone,” said one tribute.

A family member wrote: “Thinking of all my cousins ​​on the passing of their youngest brother Tony.”

Another said: “So sad to think of his family and daughters and son at this horrible time.”

The Colin Safer Neighborhood Project posted on Facebook: “We are sorry to hear that a Woodside man has died in Poleglass as a result of a stabbing. Our sincere condolences to the man’s family. Another family devastated by a knife crime. REST IN PEACE.”
