Woman Miraculously Survives Being Gored Through Major Artery By Bison At Custer State Park

The number of bison attacks we’ve seen in the United States in 2022 is insane.

We saw three people gored by bison in Yellowstone National Park in just one week, and several other close situations that could have ended pretty badly.

With that said, we can add one more to the list, this one being from Custer State Park in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Corresponding dakota news now, 19-year-old Amelia Dean was traveling to the States from the UK to visit Custer State Park when she was mauled by a bison, which ultimately resulted in her being hospitalized.

Amelia said from her hospital bed:

“It’s a pretty surreal experience, not to mention the fact that we didn’t do anything that really justified it. We just went for a walk in the park.”

She was hiking with a friend and her friend’s dog when they came across the bison quite a distance away.

Her father Matthew Dean told the story:

“They came over a hill and saw down in the dip, quite far ahead of them, they saw a large male bison.”

Little water, the two carried on.

Amelie explained:

“I was really dehydrated, it was really sunny and we’d both given the dog our water about an hour ago.”

So they walked on, trying their best to keep their distance from the bison. However, the bison attacked anyway.

Jacqueline Dean, Amelia’s mother, commented on the frightening incident:

“And suddenly the bison looked up. They were over 100 meters away and the bison just ran down the hill towards them. It came right up and stopped in front of her, and then they apparently made eye contact for a few seconds.”

Amelie added:

“I could have put my hand on his forehead without really putting it out, that’s fine.”

The bison then charged Amelia, impaling her through the thigh and throwing her about 10 to 15 feet into the air.

“I remember feeling the pressure on my hip. My hip was pushed back and I remember the feeling of flying in the air and going head over heels.”

The damage severed her femoral artery, and it’s a miracle she didn’t die at the scene.

Jacqueline said:

“We were told that people typically bleed and die between 2 and 8 minutes, but she didn’t.”

Two of her nerves were damaged, leaving her paralyzed from the knee down in her leg.

Amelie explained:

“I have basically no movement in my foot. I can’t walk without a walker or crutches. I can’t walk very far, about 20 meters, and I’m done for a long time.”

You were initially with Dr. Robert Spinner of the Mayo Clinic, who specializes in peripheral nerve damage, but when insurance denied the cost, the offer was withdrawn, daunting the family’s hopes.

Despite this, the family is still in high spirits, as Jacqueline said:

“I truly believe God has a purpose for her and I know that sounds cheesy, but I believe God has a plan and a purpose for her because it wasn’t her time to die.”

Also, they couldn’t say enough nice things about the hospital staff, the state of South Dakota, and the park:

“We can’t praise the professional care she had there, can we? And the kindness and compassion. The care and compassion of the people of South Dakota.

Yes. Oh my God. The city should be so proud of itself.

I think, I hope, that doesn’t put people off travelling. Travel and explore and have fun. It’s a crazy accident that’s not going to happen every time someone goes to a park.”

That’s one hell of a positive attitude… get well soon Amelia.

Bison attacks and throws bikers around in Custer State Park

Here we go again…

I’m not exactly sure what people think they’re approaching when they walk up to a bison, but these aren’t docile dairy cows. These are nearly 2,000-pound trucks with horns that think nothing of driving you clean into the ground if you get too close.

We saw one 9-year-old girl gets airmail (she was fine though) after her parents got too close (great dad) we saw an elderly lady get gored in Yellowstone after trying to pet a bison, yes PET A BISON.

It should go without saying, but don’t try to set a bison colony. And finally we saw a Woman hardly escapes a goring when she tripped over her own feet in Yellowstone.

And yet we now have ANOTHER video of a woman being run over by a bison in South Dakota.

According to the New York Post, the woman (and her group of motorcyclists) were driving through Custer State Park in South Dakota when they stopped to get a picture of the herd.

The women approached (like an idiot) a bison calf and of course mother bison did what protective parents do when strangers approach their children… she attacked.

The woman narrowly missed a gore as the horn caught the belt loop on her pants…you can imagine what happened next.

Yes, Mama Bison swung her around like a rag doll until her pants came off and she was pantsless and unconscious on the curb.

She was flown to a local hospital with a concussion but is expected to recover.

But the good news? They recovered their pants from the bison…

However, bison do not like bikers.
