The theme park has teamed up with Sony Pictures Entertainment for the massive £17m project that will delight thrill-seekers.

It is described as the largest single investment in the history of Chessington World of Adventures.

World of Jumanji promises to deliver a “world-first experience” bringing the supernatural board game film to life.

Visitors enter through an “impressive entrance portal” covered by overgrown jungle, as seen in the iconic 1995 film.

Chessington says it “creates the perfect immersive starting point” – before guests buckle up to take on a variety of challenges.

And the iconic Jaguar Shrine will keep a close eye on park visitors from 55 feet up as it awaits the return of the curse-breaking jewel, Jaguar’s Eye.

More details about the rides, attractions and experiences that guests can discover in the “World of Jumanji” will be announced by the park in the coming months.

Chessington explained that entertainment and industry giants have worked together to create the extraordinary development.

They promise that visitors to the park will “immerse themselves deeply in the adventurous, action-packed stories set in the blockbuster Jumanji film.”

Tim Harrison-Jones of Chessington World of Adventures Resort said: “What could be more exciting than bringing the globally successful Jumanji film franchise to life in the largest single development Chessington has ever seen?

“We know what it takes to create the ultimate adventure for our guests. Covering 128 hectares, the resort has surprises around every corner with over 40 wild rides and attractions, a zoo with over 1,000 majestic animals and two themed hotels – plus glamping !”

Jeffrey Godsick, EVP of Global Partnerships and Brand Management and Head of Location Based Entertainment at Sony Pictures Entertainment, shared his excitement.

He added, “After being entertained by the films for so many years, fans now have a chance to experience Jumanji in a whole new dimension.

“We are thrilled to embark on this exciting adventure with the Chessington creative team as Jumanji continues to expand with its own themed land.”

Robin Williams starred opposite Kirsten Dunst in 1995’s Jumanji which grossed a whopping £197million at the box office.

They battled jungle-based dangers while navigating the supernatural board game.
