Yellowstone Fan Theory Suggests Jamie Dutton Will Take Summer With Him?

It just came true.

the yellowstone The mid-season Season 5 finale was a bit of a shame when we found out the show wouldn’t be returning until next summer, but we still know the second half of the season is set to bring some fireworks.

Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and her adoptive brother Jamie (Wes Bentley) have been at each other’s throats since they were kids and it’s finally coming to a head.

Seduced by legal Market Equities vixen Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri), Jamie was eventually convinced to betray his father, John Dutton (Kevin Costner), and demand his impeachment as Montana’s governor.

I’m still hoping for the Jamie Dutton redemption arc but in the meantime Beth wants to take Jamie to the train station, it sounds like John would agree and Jamie might try to take Beth out before she can hit him.

It’s chaos…

Will Jamie get killed? Will Beth get killed?

It’s anyone’s guess, but one Redditor has an interesting theory as to why it couldn’t be either.

Actually Redditor lgrahamtx believes that Summer Higgins (Piper Perabo) will be the one who gets caught.

Wait a minute…Summer Higgins? Yes, Summer… and it’s all an… accident.

“Since Summer lives in the main house, I genuinely believe Jamie’s killer will kill her instead of Beth.

That’s the only reason I see why she’s in John’s house, other than she’s a convenient piece for John’s enjoyment now that the ex-governor has moved away.

I can’t imagine Beth getting killed yet.”

How about?

I mean it would be a great twist that doesn’t result in the destruction of the family (and a main character, by the way). Not that big characters can’t die in Taylor Sheridan projects (I mean, have you seen anything else he’s done?), but are we really going to watch the Dutton family implode?

As much as the Duttons’ evil ways made fans hate them, you still want to see them win, right?

Maybe not…

Despite this, fans stand behind the theory and share a number of comments agreeing with the plausibility of this scenario:

“Oh, I could see that…”

“I would also imagine how it would motivate Beth to pretend she’s dead and get the upper hand on Jamie if they do that. It would be really interesting to see if the story continues like this.”

“I would be fine with that. Can’t stand this actress. She has two modes of expression and both don’t.”

“It’s also something Taylor Sheridan did before in Sons of Anarchy.”

“I can easily imagine that happening and I’ll be happy if it happens.”

“Oh, how I hope so!”

“God, I hope you’re right.”

“Pretty obvious.”

“Solid theory.”

“Interesting and very possible.”

“Yep. That’s my thought too.”

“I see this happening…”

“Don’t get your hopes up.”

“That would be a difficult explanation for the judge as she is under house arrest; none for them to cover up.”

“Interesting theory. Killing the wrong person isn’t exactly what professional killers do. But I could see it.”

“I really hope that doesn’t happen. I want Jamie to have some kind of victory.”

Stay tuned…

yellowstone Season 5 will continue on Paramount Network next summer.

Yellowstone’s Wes Bentley on the struggle to break up with Jamie

There’s one character that takes center stage this season, and that’s none other than Jamie Dutton, John’s adopted son.

This season, Jamie has a strong sense of jealousy toward his father after he was elected governor of Montana. Now he’s getting close (VERY close) to Sarah Atwood of Market Equities, and now they’re conspiring to impeach John.

Speaking of Jamie, Wes Bentley (who plays Jamie in yellowstone), recently sat down with him for a candid interview The New York Times to discuss his past struggles with substance abuse.

Suffering from heroin, cocaine and alcohol abuse, Bentley was eventually arrested in 2008 and pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and use of a counterfeit $100 bill.

He admitted:

“The regret will always be there.”

Since then, he’s turned his life upside down and doesn’t play a central role in the biggest show on TV.

However, he also admitted that playing the role of Jamie Dutton wasn’t easy:

“He’s incredibly sad. I’ve always dealt with my sadness with things like comedy, humor, or drugs at one point, or tried to just ignore it and find another way out.

But you can’t do that when you’re trying to portray someone’s sadness. You gotta let it be That was the hardest part of it all and it took a little bit of a toll on my life.”

And sometimes it’s hard to keep that on set:

“I’ve prided myself on leaving it on the doorstep, or as an athlete would say, on the field, for most of my career, but Jamie’s sadness pervades my life, although I’m not sad.

I’m very fortunate to have a great family and to be where I am in life, but he’s always behind me and scratching at me, especially when I’m filming.

He added that his wife will tell him if he lets the character invade his real life:

“You let him come home now. Jamie is coming home and we don’t want him here.”

Of course, we’ve seen a number of phenomenal actors intertwine their personal lives with the characters of their professional lives. Usually referred to as “method acting,” depending on the character, it can be a dark and destructive process. It can also make the performance incredible.

Christian Bale, Joaquin Phoenix, Daniel Day Lewis, Robert De Niro, Charlize Theron and others have given impressive performances, marginalizing their minds and bodies to invade the minds and bodies of their characters. Of course, Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning performance of Joker in the Dark Knight has been viewed by many as an achievement that may have contributed to his death, but Ledger’s family has consistently denied this speculation.

Still, it’s pretty incredible what actors are willing to go through, physically, mentally, emotionally, to invest every part of their being in their characters. And while Wes Bentley isn’t method acting per se, it’s not hard to see how the sadness of Jamie’s character and the fact that he’s consistently the show’s black sheep can creep into his head.
