York City loses defenders to relegated Scunthorpe United
The defender has turned down new terms with the club to pull out of a league and join Scunthorpe, who are aiming for a return to the Vanarama National League at the first attempt.
Kouogun joined York in the 2021-22 Vanarama National League North season, helping City gain promotion to the National League via the play-offs.
The centre-back made 64 appearances during his time with the Minstermen, 38 of them this season.
Kouogun fell out of favor towards the end of the National League season and turned down new contract terms to join Scunthorpe United in the National League North.
Scunthorpe have had a busy start to the new season since being relegated from the National League last season and have already welcomed six new faces to their ranks.
Kouogun has signed a two-year deal with the Irons beginning in July 2023, telling the club’s website: “I’m delighted to be here. I spoke to the gaffer about the project at the club and how they see it.” and it’s something I’m very interested in and excited to be a part of.
“The signings we are making show the ambition of the club and show that we want to go in the right direction. I’m happy to be a part of it.”
“I had a really good time in York and it’s sad to leave, but I look forward to achieving something here now.”
“I like to defend first and then build up from behind. I have pace and just give 110 percent for the football club and my teammates.”
“It’s good to know where I’ll be next season to recharge my batteries and then go back to training and meeting my new teammates at the end of June.”
