York College drama graduates perform for agents at the York Theater Royal
The BA Degree in Acting for Stage and Screen cohort at Sim Balk Lane campus demonstrated their acting skills by performing a series of short scenes from contemporary plays.

Scenes included excerpts from comedian Patrick Marber’s “Closer”, playwright Lucy Prebble’s “The Effect”, playwright Matt Hartley’s “Sixty Five Miles”, Penelope Skinner’s “Eigengrau”, Evan Placey’s “Consensual” and “Bird” by Katherine Chandler.

The students performed in front of industry professionals and a video was also sent to the agents.

James Harvey, the program director and acting instructor, who is also currently developing a musical with West End staff, said: “The Graduate Showcase was the culmination of two years of professional acting training and gave our first cohort of actors the opportunity to present themselves on We’re Bringing.” their work into the industry, which will provide them with a successful career for many years to come.”

Alongside James, the course will be led by industry professionals including singing tutor Yvonne Morley-Chisholm, who works at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, and the workshops will be run by the Royal Shakespeare Company.

York College University Center is just one of around 20 education providers in the UK affiliated with the prestigious Spotlight Graduate Membership Scheme and is recognized in the industry as a professional acting education programme.

The degree is conducted in association with the Theater Royal and Screen Yorkshire, who have helped fund the BAFTA-winning film This is England, as well as the popular TV series Peaky Blinders and All Creatures Great and Small.
