York: Man injured after hit-and-run on Wigginton Road

According to North Yorkshire Police, the incident occurred on Sunday August 27 as the man was crossing Wigginton Road.

He suffered a broken arm after being hit by a passing vehicle on the unlit stretch of road between the railway line and the former Bumper Castle pub.

A police spokesman said the man, a local man aged around 30, was walking towards York and it was believed the vehicle was heading towards the city.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance for emergency treatment on his arm.

The spokesman said: “The vehicle did not stop at the scene and they may not have known what happened.”

Police are urging witnesses to the accident and anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
