Young man charged with air force at Seaham Cricket Club

Officers from Seaham and Easington Police were called to the scene at 6.40pm on August 28.

There were reports of a young man with a gun at the scene.

A 22-year-old was charged with possessing an air gun in a public place.

He is currently out on bail and will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court on October 5.

A spokesman for Seaham and Easington Police said: “A man has been charged following an incident that occurred at Seaham Harbor Cricket Club on Monday (August 28).”

“Officers were called to the site shortly after 6.40pm following reports of a man with a firearm.

“A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody.

“He has since been charged with possession of an air weapon in a public place and has been bailed to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 5.”
